Dr. Amjad Iqbal is a Professor and Head of Food Science and Technology at the Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He obtained his undergraduate degree (2001) and a postgraduate degree (2003) in Agriculture from The University of Agriculture in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the supervision of Professor Iqtidar Ahmad Khalil (Late). Dr. Iqbal was the first ever Pakistani who was awarded with European Union (VLIR) Fellowship on the basis of his excellent academic record by the Belgian Government for his master studies in Food Science and Technology. He received his MS Food Science and Technology from the University of Gent and Katholic University of Leuven, Belgium in 2005 with distinction under the supervision of Professor Bruno DeMeulenaere. Dr. Iqbal then awarded with the most prestigious DHPA award by UK government for his PhD at the University of Edinburgh, UK. He received his Ph.D. at School of Engineering and Biological Sciences from the University of Edinburgh, UK in 2009-2010 under the supervision of Prof. Stephen C. Fry. He did a brief stint as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Edinburgh, UK. He was appointed as a Researcher/Diagnostician at Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture (SASA), UK in 2010. He resigned from his job at SASA in 2012 to serve his beloved motherland Pakistan. He was appointed as an Assistant Professor at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2016 and Full Professor in 2020. He was awarded with Talented Young Scientist, an International award by Ministry of Science and Technology, China Government. In 2016, he got an opportunity to carry out his outstanding research at state of the art lab in Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, China. Dr. Iqbal has made over 110 scholarly contributions, including nearly 100 peer-reviewed research papers (h-index = 18; i10-index = 33; total citation = 1761, December 2020), 1 accepted and 5 filed patents, 4 books and 3 book chapters. Dr. Iqbal is an editorial board member of several International journals. His area of expertise is product development, bioactive compounds, method development and food allergens.
