I am working as a Lecturer in the Department of Zoology, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan since 2013.
Regarding my professional life, I was selected (2010) as lecturer in Zoology (Higher Education Department KP) by the KP Public Service Commission.
About my educational background, I am Master in Zoology with distinction. I have completed my PhD from Michigan State University (America)-Sun Yat-sen University Joint Center of Vector Control for Tropical Diseases, Parasitology Department, Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University, China.
My PhD research is based on controlling transmission of dengue and Zika viruses using Wolbachia, a novel bio-tool. Our research team is looking in to the molecular mechanism of wolbachia based interference to viruses in vector mosquitoes (Aedes). In addition, we work to observe the Wolbachia-based refractoriness of Anopheles mosquitoes to malaria parasites. Finally, to establish improved strategies based on Wolbachia for mosquito population replacement and suppression. My current project is 'Wolbachia based control of Vector mosquitoes for tropical diseases" at Key Laboratory of Sun Yat-sen University - Michigan State University Joint Center of Vector Control for Tropical Diseases.
During my master research, we worked on toxicological evaluation of plant derived natural compounds against different insects which subsequently led to the formulation of Dengue Guard (mosquito repellent) which is to be commercialized in near future.
Regarding my research output so far, I have published several research articles and one book chapter in reputed journals i.e. Insect biochemistry and molecular biology, Methods in Molecular biology, PLoS One, BMC Public health, Frontiers in Public Health, Asian Tropical Diseases and etc. |
