I am a dynamic and enthusiastic young scientist belong to District Dir upper, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan. With diverse and robust academic and research background that includes my education as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) (Gold Medalist), MPhil in Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry (Gold Medalist) from Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam, Pakistan in 2011 and 2013 respectively. I have earned my PhD degree in Medical Sciences specialized in Basic Veterinary Medical Sciences (Veterinary Physiology, Anatomy, Histology and Pharmacology), Cardiovascular Physiology and Mitochondrial Biology from the Centre for Cardiovascular Genomics and Medicine (CCGM), Department of Medicine and Therapeutics (MEDT), Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Hong Kong in 2025 (32 ranked in QS global university ranking 2025-26 and 44 in THE World Universities ranking 2025). I have completed my Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (Postdoc) training in Mitochondrial Biology in CCGM, MEDT, CU Medicine at the CUHK Hong Kong in 2025.
I am a cardiovascular physiologist and mitochondrial biologist, and my current research is focused on innovative role of mitochondrial dynamics (MD), intermitochondrial communication (IMC) and mitochondrial nanotunnels (MNTs) in ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI)-induced ST segment elevated myocardial Infarction (IRI-STEMI). I am keenly interested in altered cardiac mitochondrial morphology (shape, size, positioning and motility), mitochondrial structural adaptations (mitochondrial fission fusion cycle, mitochondrial hibernation), IMC and novel compensatory pathophysiological mechanisms of mitochondrial nanotunneling in cardiomyocytes during the course of development of MI, and genetic and pharmacological manipulation of MNTs to find out some therapeutic avenues. In addition, my research domain encompasses Intermitochondrial Communication (IMC), Mitochondrial Quality Control (MQC) mechanisms and Artificial Mitochondrial Transfer and Transplantation (AMTT) therapy in settings of cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases (AD, PD, HD, ALS) and Tumor Microenvironment (TME). Besides this, I am also avidly interested in Assisted Reproductive Techniques particularly IVF, ICSI, ASFI, ET and Mitochondrial Replacement Therapy (MRT) for rare mitochondrial diseases.
Currently, I am working as a lecturer in Veterinary Physiology in College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) Pakistan from last 10 years. Before joining AWKUM, I was working as a lecturer in Veterinary Physiology in Gomal College of Veterinary Sciences, Gomal University Dera Ismail Khan Pakistan for almost 3 years. I have completed my five year graduation as Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with an award of Chancellor’s Gold Medal by securing 3.90 CGPA (85.43%) and post graduation as Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry with an award of Chancellor’s Gold Medal by achieving 91.56 % score from Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam (SAU) Pakistan in June, 2011 and October, 2013 respectively. I have completed my PhD from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Hong Kong on the prestigious postgraduate scholarship (PGS). I have secured this lavish scholarship of 20000 Hong Kong Dollars (2500 USD) per month for my PhD study in the Centre for Cardiovascular Genomics and Medicine (CCGM), Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Hong Kong. I have also been awarded esteemed Dragon Culture Merit Scholarship (DSC) of 50,000 Hong Kong Dollars (6500 USD) for Outstanding Medical Postgraduate Students in Division of Medical Sciences in CUHK during my PhD study. After PhD, I got a lavish Innovative and Technology Fund (ITF) Postdoc Fellowship (45000 HKDs per month) in CCGM, CUHK from the Government of Hong Kong. I have also been received merit and need-based scholarships of 2000 USD each from United State Agency for International Development (USAID) both in my graduation and post graduation in SAU Tandojam, Pakistan. I am teaching almost all subjects of Zoology, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences in general and subjects of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry in particular including General Principles of Physiology, Cell Physiology, Physiology of Digestion and Lactation, Cardiovascular, Respiratory and Renal Physiology, Neuromuscular Physiology and Endocrinology, Physiology of Reproduction and Artificial Insemination (AI), Clinical Pathology, Introduction to General Biochemistry, Biochemistry of Metabolism, Molecular Biology, Introduction to Animal Breeding and Genetics, Animal Breeding Plans and Policies to students of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and M. Phil degree programs from last Fourteen (14) years.
In Veterinary Sciences, I have my research expertise in the field of Veterinary Physiology, Cell and Molecular Biology. I am keenly interested in Artificial Insemination (AI), Cryopreservation of semen, Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART), Embryo Transfer, IVF, GIFT, IVC, IVM, Sperm capacitation and maturation, ICSI, Assisted Hatching, Estrus Synchronization, Superovulation, Oocyte maturation, Sperm and embryo sexing, embryo splitting and cloning. I am well versed with molecular biology techniques like isolation of DNA and RNA, Primer design, PCR, protein electrophoresis and Western blot. I have 12 years of teaching and research experience in higher academic institutions as well as practical clinical experience in field condition of Veterinary Sciences. I feel myself comfortable while working with laboratory and domestic animals. I am hard working and motivated learner, capable of working independently and in a team environment as reflected by my manuscript publications (30 in numbers) in international and national journals, many of which are co-authored with fellow researchers. |
